Geeeeez, Tim - hard day at the office? Lighten up - it's a job, not a religion..........:icon_mrgreen:

Keep on drinking that Kool-Aid PE. I am not here to convict anyone. I am here to simply express my opinion and to call out what I believe is a personal attack and a cowardly act.

PE, do you really think that the purpose of this thread was simply to provide background information about one of Fannie's fairly recent hires? If you really do think that, I have a nice bridge that I would like to sell to you.

See the difference is I take Mr. Kennedy at his word. You dont. You can read minds and I cant.

I personally find the information quite interesting. She left one sinking ship before it sank for another sinking ship that will sink. Her career moves are not necessarily ones I would have chosen .. but again I cant read her or Mr. Kennedys mind ... I accept the information as simply information.

I just don't get it? what harm was done? The lady is a Chief Appraiser that used to work for Wamu and now is going to work for Fannie? How is it a smear?

Unless, TimD, Badge number #354 aka "Government Plain Clothes Police" wants to incite a covert shoving match which will have everyone thrown in jail, Oops! I mean have this thread removed.:fiddle:Yes Tim, we know, you're from the government and you are here to help. :peace: If you want to bash anyone, bash the AI. It's their announcement.
Don't you know? Any comment about someone associated with a bank here on the Appraisers Forum must be intended as an insult. After all, who ever says anything positive about a lender, fannie, or freddie?

Obviously Mike just wanted a little entertainment. He could have posted, "Bank of America says the sky is blue," and produced similar results. Trolling is so easy here; like fishing in a bowl. :new_all_coholic:

And if he had, most of us would be reaching for our umbrellas.......:icon_mrgreen:

First of all, this is an internet forum and the most popular sport is to attack other posters because of posts, ideas, statements and limited information.

Mike posted a simple post that showed a lady named Sue Potteiger was now working for Fannie Mae and she did work for a company that failed the US taxpayers miserably. Those are facts.

None of us really know this lady and she could improve Fannie Mae, but it is human nature to question her abilities, and "connections" and how she got this job. It is also legitimate for appraisers who have been totally screwed by her former employer to be angry and judgmental, but it is also a fact that she left the company four years ago. Four years ago was 2005 when appraisers were making more money than they could bank.

I have no problem understading how Ms. Potteiger ended up at FNMA. The chief appraiser for any of the largest sellers to FNMA are bound to know many of the managers and decision makers........

If there is anything to be concerned about it would be the above. The question will be will Ms. Potteiger look at the public interest or protect the industry idiots who are ruining not only our profession but also stealing from the American taxpayer.

.....Yes Tim, we know, you're from the government and you are here to help. :peace: If you want to bash anyone, bash the AI. It's their announcement.

It is no secret that TimD has a different job and it appears that it is a job that many would like to have and it is a job that could very well impact our profession.

I don't really think it is in the best interest of this forum or our profession to ostracize people who can give us insight into the industry on the government side. But there have been many ignorant posts that have caused people who are involved in the shaping and future of the industry not to post on this forum.

I would not be proud to be the person who writes the last insulting or negative post that causes an influential person to say to them self that they will no longer post here anymore because of the negativity of posters on this site.

If you consider anyone who works in the government or for an AMC or for a regulatory agency the ultimate enemy you might want to remember that you should keep your allies close, and your "enemies (if you consider them to be an enemy)" closer.

Information, learning, insight.....this is what I look for from this forum. Driving posters away takes away some of those insights to where our profession is going.

It is my opinion that some people have the ability to ruin the openness of some posters by driving away those that give insights into the other sides (plural) of the industry be it the government, reviewers working for AMCs, regulatory agencies, state boards and others.

Be careful what you wish for, we might be debating FHA transfer of reports, comp checks and stupid Realtor comments without real issues being discussed.

I can not resist. Especially since its between two people I like and respect very much. Timd and Mike K. Geez.

Well I checked my archives for back when I was a direct vendor for WAMU assignments. My first review assignment for WAMU was July 2004 and the last assignment I completed was July 2006.

It was an absolute joy to complete review assignments for WAMU. I was so impressed by the 'staff weinees'(military term) I dealt with on a daily basis. This bank truly was trying to do the right thing. The fees were very very good. Compared to todays standards of AMC_PhoneMonley.comers fees were outrageously generous. One of the former appraiser staff weinees is a member of this forum. I wont say who it is. If that person wants you to know who they are they will contact you directly.

In late 2006-2007 all my assignments dried up. I dont know for sure but I understand WAMU went to an AMC and the everyone knows the rest of the story.

My first reaction when I saw Mikes OP and Title was elation. I thought finally, finally the bozos at the GSE's are getting some real talent in there organizations and maybe just maybe some positive change are just around the corner.

Think about! Timd hired on with Jac Doty at Freddie and now Sue Pottenger is on with Fannie. Folks that can not be a bad thing.

Having said all that, I do have to say I am going to wait and see.

----------------------

Timd, Think my man. Mike K brought attention to an article that the pottenger woman was a former WAMU Chief Cook and Bottle Washer Appraiser. You took it as a personal attack on her because of his footnote in blue! So I have a question for you, just to demonstrate your over reaction.

Do you think Ms Pottenger listed her former position as Chief Appraiser for WAMU on her resume? I will bet you she did.

I'm happy that Tim continues to post on the forum. I'd love for Sue Potteiger to post here as well. If I read titles correctly, she's FNMA's equivalent of a chief appraiser. The same function as Ms. Doty?

Given the number of members, traffic and extent of the discussion on AF, if the GSEs were really clever, they'd each hire someone to blog here 24/7 for the PR value. If they were really, really clever, they'd hire someone like George Hatch to be their spokesman.

But they didn't do bad hiring Tim, although Im sure it wasn't for the express purpose of public relations.

Neither the AI Newsletter press release on the Conference (received early yesterday via email) when I posted #1 - nor the Conference Profiles (see link pulled up JUST NOW) indicated WHEN Ms. Potteiger joined Fannie. Last time I had seen her name was her move to VEROS after ARC. I do not know her, have never met her, or communicated with her. Thought perhaps it was a RECENT move as her name was included in the OP Press Relase.

Simple as that.

For what it's worth, I do know Sue. Not extremely well, but well enough to feel comfortable with my assessment of her character. I've shared a few meals with her and had a number of conversations with her on a variety of issues.

I like Sue. She has an appraiser's heart and I think the fact that she has joined Fannie Mae is a good thing for appraisers.
