Freeway Proximity

Hi Kelly;

On a lighter side, some people spend money to buy a "White Noise Machine". Has a calming effect, you are getting one for no extra charge.

If it were me, I wouldn't worry too much. I have lived on the glide path of Kennedy Airport, and got used to 747's comming in for landings. You would be surprised how you get used to things, and they "dissapear". If you like the house, go for it. You will never find the "Perfect House" anyway.

Regards

Hal

Interesting topic...especially since I was just in L.A. in July. My wife's sister and her husband have a lovely home in Redondo about 6 blocks off the beach. The house sits right against the street (no yard) and our room was on the lower (street level). Since they get ocean breezes there is no air conditioning and we had the window open most of the time. The street noise bothered me; however, they don't even notice it.

We live in Colorado Springs and our home is adjacent to the flight corridor to the main north south runway at our airport which is also an Air Force base. I am sure the constant aircraft traffic would bother them if they came to stay with us.

Noise is in the ears of the beholder. How about the constant roar of the surf? People play millions to be subjected to that sound every day. Traffic is a fact of life. Perhaps easy access to the freeway is an important factor we haven't discussed.

I would ask to have access to the house for a day and spend some time inside during rush hour. Can you hear the traffic from inside the house? As a real estate broker in addition to an appraiser I was trained in how to over come objections such as....

"We really don't like the noise from the freeway!" My reply...."yes, there is some noise but just look at that view of the hills!". "everything is a trade off, wouldn't you agree?".

I wish you well in the purchase of your new home.
