From Trainee Appraiser to Certified General Appraiser?

I also went directly from trainee to CG. It was suggested by one of my instructors to try to take the CG exam and Comp exam close together and study for both at the same time. Amazingly, it has worked out that way for me--just passed the CG last month and sitting for Comp in September. I hope I can benefit from the massive studying I did for the state exam. I used the AI online study guide and it was very helpful in getting organized. Good Luck.

YES! It is certainly possible.

I am an example of one who went directly from trainee to CG. It was difficult! I was very lucky earlier in my career, after thousands of hours of residential appraisal experience (just prior to deciding whether to get the CR), when I was able to go to work for a commercial firm due to my overall real estate background. I reasoned that, why not stick it out and go for the CG while I was at it......)

I did this well before the educational requirements changed, so it is somewhat more challenging now. Kudos to all have done it or are about to attempt it! Immerse yourself!

I think the OP is on a commercial track and is just curious as to whether it is doable to go straight from trainee to CG, I don't think it is a question about becoming a CR and then starting over as a commercial appraiser.
