I think its an excellent idea under your scenario.
If you wanted to do residential only, I'd likely point you in the direction of commercial, but if its not your sole source of income, it sounds like a good idea.
After splitting the fee and working for someone else for a while, you might be able to get your own full fee clients and move up the ladder.
Combine full fee with a nice side business and I think you'd be looking very good.
