Going back to the gym

I dropped my gym membership and ordered a concept 2 rowing machine ( was on a wait list but they have ramped up production ). I ride my bike more too outside which is the best

I would not rejoin a gym till a vaccine - imo they are one of the worst places to be indoors, sweaty, lockers eoww...I do miss it but not enough to increase risk of getting covid. The owners are pretty hardcore out for the membership $, I saw it when I went in person to cancel how they did not give a ** about anyone there, one receptionist had mask off her face and around neck, many customers not wearing them etc.

I am not that into weights but Total Gym looks like they offer some very good home workout stations and machines

My gym stopped billing in March. I expect a bill in August. I will probably check in at some point and see what it looks like. I am fine with staying away for as long as it takes.

While I'm not worried about COVID, I don't want to be out of work for a few weeks just because I caught the virus either. So no gyms for me at this time. I'm also not doing in-person martial arts training in a large group format either for while.

There are plenty of other things that can be done solo for cardio, such as walking, running, shadowboxing, etc. Nowadays, there is a ton of programs available right on youtube.

Long time lifter and gym goer. A big part of my life and how I feel centers around getting a workout in and still being big/strong enough to fight off the young wolves when needed...but not for me since March. My gym opened in early June and was packed to the gills. I refuse. The governor shut them all down again a week ago and my stupid gym owner disobeyed the law and sued the State of AZ and kept his gym open...wanted his day in court. Had court Monday, was told to shut down Tuesday and he did.. AZ is one of the states with very bad numbers right now and increasing daily. My fellow genius desert dwellers were way less than 1/3 wearing masks in public up until a few weeks ago when the "new data" came out. Actually old data but we paid attention after the news cycle quit worrying about riots and remembered that pesky pandemic thing...At least people are masking up now but not 100%..I'll do what I can to stay active but it will be along time before I'll put myself in a confined area with others working out.

Ever since my gym closed in March, my Adonis body has gone a bit flabby. My gym finally opened and I was wondering has any of you gone back.
Suppose to clean every hour. Do you feel comfortable using the equipments?

I do my daily 2+ mile jogs out by the beach in Pacifica and lift 2 20+lb dumbells 20-40 reps /day. That all.

Anyway, I was driving by our 24 Hour Fitness this morning and saw a very slow line of people waiting to get inside, - about 100 ft long and really felt sorry for them. Pathetic No kidding, they really looked pathetic and downtrodden. You have to schedule on your smartphone for a timeslot, get there probably I assume on time and then have to wait probably another 30 minutes to get in. Oh well.

Florida is a mirror image of everything you said here.

It sucks not going to the gym, mentally & physically, but its better than getting a virus that could permanently debilitate or outright kill you.

Yes, it sure does. My company has done something interesting. The fitness center is, of course, closed, as we are all working remotely. But, they are asking people to send in a weekly spreadsheet of their workouts. Personally, I like it. It gives me a degree of accountability :) Getting ready to send my weekly sheet in right now. 36 miles this week :)

How many stips issued? :)

LOL - It has been so hot and humid this week that the "reviewers" are telling me that my pace isn't really acceptable and that my form is degrading, especially the last mile or so of each run. But, with the weather we have had I am happy just surviving each run. :)

Nearby Krav Maga holding outdoor sessions in the evening, been blazing hot here for 2 weeks. Feels like a summer from my childhood.
