Judge Roberts laid down the not so subtle hint in the end of year SOTUS report. He retold the Brown v Board of Education ruling in Little Rock where Gov. Orval Faubus deemed himself above the Supreme Court ruling ending segregation in schools. When Faubus refused to allow a black child to enter Central High School, then president Dwight Eisenhower called out the Army and National Guard and enforced the law. That was the preface to the SCOTUS 2022 Annual Report which you can download.

I suspect that Roberts told that story to remind states like Oregon, Washington, California and NY that they are not above the rulings of SCOTUS and if it comes to the use of force that the government has the power to insure that the Second Amendment is enforced. And it is plain. BTW, rulings in court has made it plain that bump stocks and other devices are allowed and the states must comply. That "shall issue" is the law and the next question before the courts involves if a felon can have their gun rights restored. Also Red Flag laws were shot down and that likely will get appealed to SCOTUS. Hopefully RF laws go down too.
