Yes you read that correctly....so Ive finally decided to get my first laptop & was hoping to get some recommendations. I use SFREP for my appraisal software.

Thanks for any advice

NVMe hard drive 1tb or MORE

16g ram min

two or more external plugs (lightning, HDMI, DP) for multiple screen (laptop as a desktop replacement)
screen doesnt really matter if using as a desktop replacement so size doesnt matter

GOOD wireless keyboard and mouse

buy from Microcenter, if available, or Costco or Sams brick & mortar

or online at newegg or amazon (yuck)

I bought a laptop last year on closeout from Sam's Club for <$200 works fine as work machine for a trainee.

Lenovo. You can build your own machine online and add whatever features you need. (Lenovo is IBM and they also have a great toll-free customer support service)

I second going to Costco. The laptops are on display and you can touch and feel. Play with the screen brightness, Etc to see which one is best for you. Very reasonable prices for what they are.

For me, I need a built-in 10 key number keypad. Which means you'll likely need a 15.6 in model. I can't stand using the numbers on top below the screen.

Lenovo Thinkpad for quality build with best in class keyboard or MS Surfacebook.

Never, never, never.

Never, never, never.
To Lenovo?

There have been concerns about Lenovo computers due to their Chinese manufacturing and ownership. Some users and analysts have raised questions about potential security risks, suggesting that Lenovo's ties to China could allow for backdoors or data collection by the Chinese government.2 However, Lenovo has consistently denied these allegations, stating that any suggestion of government control or compromised cybersecurity is false.

You will love it. I am just way faster on desktop keyboard than laptop. I am wrong person to ask on which brand to get. Get an extended warranty on it if you can pretty cheap. You can put it in like a small hand carried briefcase if you travel much. You will like it. Get you a little padded briefcase and you can work almost anywhere with hotspot. I don't work remotely. I don't do hotspot.

Where was the device you typed this up on made in? Also, corporations with tight security requirements seem to prefer Lenovo due to their high quality and reliability. That said, Surfacebook being made by MS is going to be the most well integrated laptop that "just works" but beware of the ARM chips as they might not run old software like Total.
