For what? Add another 50k govt employee to our cost do do what? And that just to start out. And 2 AMC hacks who probally can't spell USPAP. How about getting 2 more regular certs on the board and make it 11.

Frank are you now working for AMC's?

How many board members actuall work for AMC's on a daily basis?

Hi Dale,

No, I am not doing any work for AMCs. One of the current FREAB members does work for an AMC. By that, I mean she is an actual appraiser employee of an AMC.

The amendment that added two AMC representatives was submitted by Sen. Thrasher at the behest of LPS. It was a blindside to our efforts with the bill. In fact, the LPS folks had tried to negotiate our support for such a provision and we declined. We offered something else, to which they agreed. Even with that plum, they mounted an effort to have the bill vetoed.

So, the bill is not perfect and does not solve every problem.

What is your point? Are you implying I'm in the bag for AMCs or don't know enough about AMCs to offer suggestions for improvement?

No I don't believe you are the bag man for the anti AMC crusade. I respect your opinion because you did it on your own dime? Some how I don't believe that adding 2 AMC employees to OUR board is in the best interest of appraisal reform. Who do you think they are going to protect? And to top it off with additional fees that come from our pockets.

I'm not fond of AMCs either, but if they are to be regulated by the board, then they should be represented within the board. And what a great way for them to learn what the rules and laws really are.

Ok but why do they need 2 seats on the board?. Most of us working appraisers that rely on AMC work are only represented by 1 board member that is familar with our plight. This bill is worthless if AMCs controll the board. Are they willing to protect welfare of the residents of Florida? or Are they going to protect the interest of the corporate AMC aka their employer?

1st I do not believe no one likes the 2 AMC seats however if there will be 9 members that means it now takes 5 to pass anything if all show up.. They are not allowed to get together and plan anything. Due in this state we has another law called the Sunshine law. We here in north Florida lost a couple of city Council member talking among themselves when not in session. If I lived in another state this might be more of a problem. However if they work together behind the scenes, they might get caught. Like it no, but lets make the best of the other parts of the law. Question I have is how many of the larger companies have Florida residents which can get appointed by the Govenor?

I object to the cost burden placed on appraisers to regulate the AMC's. It appears that to 50k +++ in administrative, personal and extras is going to be taken from the appraisers pocket. So those of you that don't currently work for AMC's are going to pay to regulate them.

What is the possibility of 5 non appraisers being on the board. 2 AMC + 2 Public + 1 Banker resulting an a majority in voting that ALL appraisals have to go through an AMC.

Anything is possible, but there is reality to contend with. The "User Member" is now a mortgage broker. Why would they vote on such an issue?

IMNSHO, such a vote would be meaningless. The FREAB has no authority to make such a proclamation.

Yeah maybe it will be fun to get a different opinion of appraising on the board.
