Is anyone here familiar with RAID Drives? I installed two identical Maxtor 40GB drives, and set them up on my RAID controller. I mirrored my original drive and everything seemed to be working fine. Then all of the sudden my machine powered off (Running Windows XP, by the way) Now as soon as I enter my password in the Start screen, the system powers down.

I took out the new drive and moved the oringinal back to the IDE 1 slot, and the machine works fine. I installed the new drive as a slave behind the original, and it works fine. I then set them back up on the RAID Controller and same old story. Any suggestion?

Thanks,

Sooner Mike

Have you set both drives as 'master' with the switches?

Also, check your bios on startup and make sure that drive is selected as 'bootable' .

Is that RAID set for +0 or +1?

Did your mirror drive include the OS or did you install that seperately?

How about these tricky little machines. I hooked them back up, one last ditch effort, and they seem to work fine???????
