Hello Again Everyone,
I hope all is well with everyone. It's good to see we still have some appraisers left in Indy! I was away for a while working on a market analysis program for residential appraisals and "soul searching" as to where I wanted to focus my time in the appraisal industry. I missed being educated daily by you guys. I'm glad to see there is still interest in our profession (moretrev), and that the people I greatly respect (Eddie, Doug, IndianaJones, etc.) are all still here.
Moretrev, I'm happy to help you in applying for your certification if you still are in need. The licensing laws, requirements, and documentation can seem confusing at times. I am surprised your supervisor is not helping you with this, but I too had a difficult time with my first supervisor and was forced to educate myself; so I understand your situation.
As a brief aside, the city of Franklin was just awarded $5 million from FEMA to help demolish homes in flood zones. I was approached by a contractor who would like an appraiser to bid on the project as a "package" with him. I am not an MAI, nor have I performed government work. I do not want to hurt his chances of obtaining the bid, so I wanted to first reach out to my fellow "forumites" to see if any of you would be interested in such work. It would be up to 40 appraisals, and the fee is not an issue. They most likely would expect the appraisals to be performed relatively quickly, so that may be an issue to some.
This isn't "secret" knowledge or anything, so please don't feel I am soliciting any referrall business or anything. As I said, I simply do not have the credentials necessary to "wow" the city, and I don't want to hurt my friend's chances. I am not asking for any split, or any sort of reciprocity. Simply extending the opportunity to those who I think would be qualified for the job. Let me know if you're interested and I'll provide the necessary contact info and "names to drop".
Glad to be back on the forum. Talk to you guys soon!
