House with no hard power but solar & generator

Thanks. There is lots of great stuff here. I am doing the appraisal as a purchase. The seller indicated that power can be brought under the river for approximately $50,000 (ouch). Although "civilization" is 200 feet across the river it is approximately 12 miles by car to the same area. It looks great on the comparable map though. Really the biggest problem that I see with the power the way it is that it is not typical of this market. The gas company has made the home part of its rural route and delivers propane so it is functional and it is under contract for a similar price to non-solar homes.

Just run a really long electrical cord run across the river. Problem solved. Low cost to cure.

Propane, there's your solution. I know a a 'tony' market that builds homes
with FA Gas....and uses propane (and accessories) I lost power for a week last
year and ran a generator off propane. I think as long as there is a reasonably
priced alternative energy source, even oil, there isn't a stigma for remoteness.
