How many miles do you drive per year?

# of appraisals per year. Rough % breakdown of urban, suburban, rural.

Just curious

When I was doing two counties, typically drove 25,000 miles per year in a suburban/rural location. Went though a lot of Grand Cherokees. Now I go for the 36,000 mile / 3-year leases.

It various dramatically for me, depending on the mix of assignment types for the year. I'm been as low as 15K miles per year, and up to 36K miles per year.

During my final year as a Trainee, I booked about 75K miles!!!!!!!! In retrospect, I don't see how that was possible, but the desire to earn my full license was overwhelming.

I vary between a low of 15k to as high as 25k, depending on volume. My wife does my scheduling and between my feedback and a town map she keeps by the laptop, she has gotten very good about scheduling multiple appointments that keep driving to a minimum.

How many miles do you drive per year?
Semi-retired now. But say 5 years ago, as a rural appraiser, even then I only do about 100-130 per year. Drive about 18,000 to maybe 24,000 at peak. I often have 50 miles one way to view the property. Maybe 20 % in an urban or suburban situation. 50% as rural residential. 30% as land or ranches. I am not including my mineral valuation since those rarely require a site visit and most all data is on line or over the phone.

You're not one of the new 87,000 IRS agents are you?
No. Just gathering data to sell to the IRS for their database. :)

Started out driving 40-50K miles per year, basically took any appraisal that came over the fax. Last 5-10 years its been about 10K miles and making the same $$.
