How Would You React To This?

How many borrowers have had friends call you? Just curious.

Maybe once or twice and the caller was also acquaintance of mine. What is your point. Anything I said in my post not true?

I just think it odd that someone would call or email with concerns such as those. That, typically, would come from the borrower.
No point, as I indicated. Just curious.

I agree. Somewhat unusual. But it kind of makes sense to me. Caller was probably just looking for some professional courtesy. Nothing more. I have had am attorney friend call and speak to another attorney that he knows that had a different area of expertise and let him know I would be contacting him. Just a professional courtesy. Nothing else

Agreed with the poster who said its the lenders job..hes not my client. He should butt out! I guess given the fact that it is non-stop calls/emails about status" from lenders, and the never ending sob stories about how the borrower is going to be homeless because YOU havent gotten the appraisal done, I dont need to hear it from an another appraiser who should know better.

I would do the job in a timely way.

Don't think they asked anything else.
In any case I don't care where the chips fall. :guns:

I would be more willing to speed up an appraisal if the homeowner came up to me concerned and explained they're in a tight situation and any expediency on the appraisal would be greatly appreciated. Adding another appraiser in the mix automatically puts you in defense knowing that they'll probably be meddling on the appraisal results.

Personally, it would put me in offensive mode. In the case of the OP. Your probably of meddling would exist even if it was the borrower that approached you. They would still have an appraiser that is a friend. I'd rather know up front. But that is just me.

I don't think that the question is so out of line. The person is simply trying to help a friend and looking for some professional courtesy.
Help others and they will help you.

All the more reason to write a good report the first time.

If on the front end, you address whatever their concerns might be on the backend, there won't be any issue for them to disagree with.

.

"Thank you for explaining your friends situation...."

".....my timeline for completion is XX/XX which is what the client agreed to. If you have any further concerns, please have the buyer contact the lender."

I get these from agents all the time, especially lately. I respond professionally, however I do not make promises to anyone but the client.
