Hello,

How can I calculate MEDIAN and MODE using HP 12c calculator.

Thanks.
.r

First you have to learn the difference. After that it is a breeze.

Maybe this will help.
From the Dictionary of Real Estate Appraisal

median.
A measure of central tendency;
the value of the middle item in an
uneven number of items arranged or
arrayed according to size or the
arithmetic average of the two central
items in an even number of items
similarly arranged; a positional
average that is not affected by the
size of extreme values.
Ie; The one in the middle.

mode.
A measure of central tendency;
the most frequent, or typical, value
in an array of numbers; a positional
average that is not affected by
extreme values. It is the most
descriptive average and easily
identified when the number of items
is small; if the sample is too small,
however, none of the values may be
repeated and no mode exists.

Hello Pilgrum,

Dear,

This only tells MEAN and STANDARD DEVIATION.

regards,

.r

One calculates the mean by adding the inputs and dividing the sum by the number of inputs.

One observes the median and mode by reviewing the range of inputs.

I actually heard this question asked (seriously) during the Stats class. The instructor offered to show the student during the break.
