I'm having a problem with my HP calculator. For example, if I input 25 then hit enter and then input 2 for example to multiply, the calculator displays the number 252 and when I hit the X to multiply it displays zeroes. I've taken the battery out thinking it might reboot but this doesn't work. I'm the only person that uses this calculator. Has anyone else had this problem and if so were you able to correct the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your enter key does not work.

You got the RE Agent calculator. It always adds more to the number then what it's really worth.

Sounds like a malfunction in the calculator, not the operator as we all know those who are proficient with an HP 12-C are the cream of the crop appraisers.... ;-)

I downloaded their app to my iphone so I don't have that problem!

It appears to be the enter key. Have to push harder than normal.

Thanks

If it is the "Enter" key, after you enter "25" and press enter, decimal places will not appear. Typically, the number punched in has no decimal places until the "enter" button is pushed. If that is the case, it is the "enter" button as Couch indicated.

Takes A Licking and Keeps On Ticking

I've had a problem with the "4" key on my platinum HP12c. I've got to be real careful when entering "4" that it really enters. As you might imagine, it's a huge hassle to pay that close attention to the display when you're used to punching in the numbers quickly. I've gone back to using my 25-year old 12c, which still works fine. Even before the malfunctions started I did notice that, despite the "platinum" designation and added functions, it feels way cheap compared to my 25-year old 12c; it weighs about half of what the old one does. A truck could run over the old one and it would still work.

The extra features on the Platinum model are nice, but HP's quality has gone down hill. My Platinum model has some keys that dont work unless you press them with authority. Fortunately I was able to pick up an old 12C from a retiring forum member. In addition to getting at a price that still makes me feel guilty when I think about it, the keys are like buttah, and it oozes good appraiser karma. The good one sits on my desk, the junky new one lives in my briefcase for emergency field use.

I still have a couple of the 12cs around so I think I will just dig those out of storage because I don't remember ever having a problem with them. I do believe it may well be a quality issue with the newer model. Thanks for the input.
