I have now read on appraisal scoop that the headline yesterday was incorrect and the dole amendment was withdrawn (see below)
Does anyone have additional info?
Sorry for the innacurate post yesterday.

I just got off the phone after speaking with Ryan Miller from Senator Dole's office - the proposed amendment was withdrawn, not made part of any other bill and/or legislation. Mr. Miller stated that such Dole proposal is no longer a proposed part of the Dodd bill. Ms. Dole apparently spoke with Dodd/Shelby, the sponsors of the main bill, and all agreed that new "regulations" and/or "oversight" were needed; apparently though, such was not to be as part of this current bill. It appears that all hope, in regard to the Dole as Savior option, is dead. Being the nature of such legislative double-talk (and my own comments on this page earlier regarding being sure of all facts prior to reporting news), I invite all to call and confirm same; I would be happy to stand corrected. But the gentleman I spoke with most definately stated that it was withdrawn and that he felt bad about it.

You got it we sold insurance and Bonds do not cover loss, they sue you for the loss after they pay off. We should ask lenders and Mortgage brokers to carry bond, fair is fair, why are we the bad guys in all this, I emaild our Rep over and over about inflated appraisals and bad appraisers in our area everyone knows who will make a value, we all have to follow them and anger the home owners and lenders..but yet its appraiser who have to maybe carry even more cost. It just not correct

Lets get the homeowners fired up!!

The only way we are going to get them to change this thing, and make something better, is if we somehow can get thier constituants to contact them en masse. We would have to explain to them what this law would do, How other more benificial plans could be presented, and what it would mean to thier pocketbooks.

It would probably be benificial to explain to the people in thier districts how the appraisal process works, how long it takes to produce a "quality" appraisal, and how we want to change ther industry for the better. Many people think we get paid for 2 hours of work and see the $350 going out the door and figure we make $175 per hour.
