Does anyone have a suggestion as to what basic steps, and the least expensive way to hook up with one?

Talk to your local board of Realtors. That is the first step. They will tell you the next step, which is likely different for every board.

Why do you need a supra key? It's the listing agent's job to get you into properties. I have found that the cheapest way to access MLS service is to get a sales license and hang it with a member broker. I would imagine that this might be the cheapest way to get a supra key.

The last thing I want is to be dependent on an agent to let me into a property. I've had a lock-box/supra key for 30 years. It's the cost of doing business.

ABSOLUTELY what TC said. And here, there is NO SUCH THING as borrowing or lending a key. Board finds out, you're toast - banned - period - no exceptions. We joined the board, pay our dues and pay for the key and have from day one. I would not loan that key to ANYONE.

Are you an appraiser? If so, you would know that supra keys are controlled through your local MLS/Board of Realtors.

Hey Bill Potts

Do I need to be Certified General to post a question with out worrying if it's "too stupid to ask?"

I think Bill's question is due to the fact that this is posted in the "ask an appraiser" forum. This is usually used by the general public (non-appraisers) to ask appraisers about appraisal related issues.

I had one for 40 years.......the newest required a $500 deposit. I made a decision that if the agents want the appraisal done, they will find a way to get me into the property on my schedule. It works. No problems so far. Some agents whine but that's their nature.

Thanks Mike Stone

I didn't realize this was a public posting area. My bad!!
