Our firm does most of our work in Wisconsin, but occasionally we venture into Illinois. What is so frustrating is the lack of information you can get on-line with the individual counties in Illinois as to transactions and so forth.

Tapestry costs money for each search and to print off documents. I am hoping a savvy Illinois appraiser can point me to a simpler website which offers lower cost or free information for public records which include grantor/grantee names and the county's transaction number as well as the sales prices. We have such a system in Wisconsin through the Depatment of Revenue. Is there such a thing in Illinois and if so, where can I find it?

Cost of doing business bro. I pay $500 a year for one county access (unlimited) and a pay per click ($0.10) in another. Deeds are billed by the minute and page printed, with a 6 pager running close to a buck.

Stephen Vertin, MAI search him in the search box. and PM him.

I think Last Year, he started up an MLS out that way, that out of area appraisers can access.

I know he worked on getting it done for a few years. He should be able to give you the best info.

.

Thanks for all the replies. My property is in Winnebago County along the Illinois and Wisconsin border. Marion, I will look into Stephen. I guess I have been spoiled with free info from the Wisconsin. I thought or rather wished that Illinois had a similar system which tracked real estate transactions everywhere in the state and compiled them in a singular search. Mike, I went to your link. I have never seen that one before. It is pretty comprehensive with links to all of the counties. I like it. I was hoping for a system that just recorded all transactions in the state without having to troll each county. JTip, you are right. Many of the counties are fee based research. I will just have to bite the bullet, or rather, my bosses will have to.

Again, thanks for all the replies. This helps.

Searches are done on a county-by-county basis unless you have an MLS or Costar service to identify what you are looking for. At least it is a disclosure state!
