I would like to place an avitar by my name. I want to use one which is I have on a floppy. I went through the proceedure which I thought I was doing correctly, but I got an error message. The message said an error has occured with the avitar I was placing, and I should consult help.

I did a search in Help and came up empty.

Now I did a search of all open forums and again no response.

So here is the question:

How do I place an avitar by my name when I have a jpeg on a floppy?

Please use small words and please understand that I am pretty much of a teckie dumby.

Thanks to all.

Hal

I had the same problem, finally figured out how to make it smaller. I saved it as a .jpg file and kept making it smaller and smaller, trying to post each time, until finally I didn't get the error message any more. Problem is now it is so small you can't read what Helga is yelling, she is yelling "For the last time, it is a manufactured home."

Hey Jo Ann;

Thanks for the reply :D, I went back and tried it again, but the error message is that I cant load that type of file  the file is a jpeg of a military unit, Seabees. I am in the reserves and thought it would be great to show my pride, but oh well, something is wrong some place and I will have to sort it out later.

Regards

Hal

Hal,

Try taking a picture of your logo with your digital camera, then use that. You have to keep making it smaller and smaller tho. Use the 'cheap setting' on your camera.

Thanks for serving in the Reserves.

Avatars can be no larger than 90 x 90 pixels and must be one of the following file formats: .gif .jpeg .jpg .swf .png

To reduce your avatar in size use any graphics editing program, such as Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, or even Paint, which comes with Windows.

Also the avatar can not be over 8k in size in bytes, which should not be a problem at all after it is reduced to 90 x 90 pixels or smaller.

Hal,

I have some excellent graphics editing tools and can probably solve the problem for you. If you would like to email me your file I can fix it up and send it back N/C of course. To email it just right click on it and select "Send To" "Mail Recipient" or just add it as an attachment to an email.
