I was thinking with the new rules from Fannie Mae, why not stop at appraisers and start including other professions with issues...
ATTORNEYS - consumers would no longer be allowed to go to their attorney or select an attorney directly, but instead MUST go through their state's Bar association which would them "randomly" select an attorney. If you need an attorney out of state, then you would have to write to your state's Bar association and THEY would contact the U.S. Attorney General for a referral. Good luck with that.
AUTO DEALERSHIPS - consumers would no longer be able to go to a car dealer to select a car...can't trust those pushy unethical sales people. INSTEAD, once you know what brand of car you want to buy, you would have to contact that Car manufacturer, and they would select a salesperson and dealership for you... never mind if that person can't speak your language or that they are located farther away than a closer dealership that you've bought cars from before...buck up. It's the new way of doing business.
DOCTOR'S OFFICE - Consumers would no longer be able to select their own doctors, even when owning insurance. Instead, once you have insurance your insurance carrier would select a doctor for you, even if that doctor doesn't speak your language, is located farther away, or is a specialist in a completely unrelated field t han what you want. That's what they select for you...again, buck up.
You see how ridiculous this is? Is anyone in the Govt. or Fannie Mae reading this? Does anyone REALLY care what is good for the consumer and our profession???
We don't need a Communist approach to this problem.
We need to eliminate skippy brokers and bankers. In Calif. anyone was allowed to sell mortgage loans under the Dept of Corp. Yes, even a used car salesperson could sell a mortgage loan, having had NO TRAINING, EDUCATION OR MORAL ETHICS.
This IS STILL allowed. I've spoken about this many times... even chastised for it. So be it.
And I thought we won the Cold War.
