Increasing Fees

Yes, keep raising your prices. You are special. It sounds like you've really cornered the market on integrity and hard work. Get whatever you can get.

Psst, many other parts of the country are not like San Fransisco or Cali in general. Most would consider that a good thing. Get over it.

I wish there were enough VA assignments so that I would not have to do anything else; unfortunately, they have expanded the panel to the point one can't make a living doing just VA appraisals here. At last count we had 26 VA appraisers in El Paso county. Also, one can drive 80 miles round trip without leaving the county...that hurts with gas prices continually going up.

psst,

Raise your fees and tell us all how successful you are, Mr Rex. I'm sure in your neck of the woods appraising is equivalent to brain surgery.

It all comes down to what type of services you are selling. If you're doing what everyone else is trying to sell in a market segment where qualifications don't matter, and where there is an oversupply of appraisers and a diminishing need for services, you've got a problem on your hands. In other market segments, this is not the case.

Jesu Cristo!
Raise your prices, everything else is going up, why not your income??
Inflationary pressures!? You betcha!
We just haven't seen the yelling & screaming about wages - just yet; but we will, just wait until the Fall, when the heating season arrives.

I have raised my fees successfully. Base SFR starts with a 4, brain surgery or not.

This whole thread is a waste of air. The market will dictate whether your fee increase will fly or not.

That is false. No one dictates my fees other than myself. If I feel the need to raise them I will (and I have). If clients aren't happy with the increase they most certainly can use someone else (and they have). Some lenders have their own fee schedules, that is fine. If I find their fees are in alignment with mine great, if not thats OK too. Simple.

I hadn't raised my fees until recently, when I discovered that the requesters of appraisals expected me to have a higher fee (most from out of state). ...If you are working for someone other than an AMC, you should be able to increase your fees. EVERYTHING else is going up, so wages will have to as well, if a profit is to be made.

Let me know if it works I also would love to raise fees just by sending a notice. But all marketing pros suggest looking at it from the consurer's point of view. Would they drop you in favor of someone else if you raised fees? They know costs are up and you are passing the buck on to them. How much are you intending to raise fees? If if is a few bucks to cover gas they might shrug it off. But if you are going for a real increase that can make a difference you might have to offer some incentive.

If you're so successful scraping the bottom of the barrel...

....why do you sound so ****** off?
