Indymac Appraisers

I was on their approved list and remember doing a few but it seems like a year or two since I had one for them.

I did a handful of appraisals for IndyMac via Appraisalport in 2007 and first quarter 2008. It was great - they paid the most and gave no pressure. For that, I always had it back to them within 2-3 days. But there's been no orders since Feb'08.

Here are the thoughts of another appraiser who worked with IMB, and may not e on this Forum. LINK to "IndyMac Needed Appraisals Done Before Judgment Day"

I don't know if it is a plus or minus for me to say that I have never done any appraisal or review or naything for them.

One assignment and they paid in a timely manner. Their underwriters insisted on comps within a two mile radius in three directions in spite of the subject being on a peninsula. I love kicking a dog when he's down, but I found them to be more incompetent than sinister.

We did about 10 appraisals for them in 2007, and a couple earlier this year. I really have nothing but positive experiences from them. They didn't put "estimated values" on appraisal order forms. We were never asked to revise reports, or rebut any stipulations. They had no problem raising a fee if we requested it based on the complexity. They always paid within 30 days.

I have done a good deal of work with them.. Never had one phone call, no e-mails asking anything or any pressure of any kind. I’ve got one outstanding invoice 30 days today. I e-mailed Indy and the check is getting cut today. Hope I can cash it.

Just a few here in the past couple of years. No pressure like is outlined in that article...Just typical assignments.

I was getting a modest amount of orders from IMB prior to appraisalport. Never any pressure, paid a decent fee and paid within 30 days. Most of the folks in the Irvine appraisal department were a pleasure to deal with. When they switched to the AP rotation the only orders coming through were for 2-4 units, complex or whenever the AVM could not come up with a "hit". Two or so years ago they pretty much stopped assigning any orders to me. When I asked what might be the problem I was sent a boilerplate email about how "neither IndyMac Bank nor AppraisalPort has the authority to control the amount of orders an appraiser should be receiving. All orders assigned are base on rotation and the need of service in the area."

P.S. can someone tell me where the IMB reverse mortgage appraisal orders originate from? That's something no one seemed to know about, including Brad.

I always recieved reverse mortgage orders from Atlanta, but only a hand few over the past year or so. They were never a problem to me, and always paid on time.
