For Tom Hildebrandt & Bob Ipock and anyone else taking the Instructor Certification Course, I am inserting a message I got from Mavis Kleso today. Great! So Much for continuing education credit. Neither PA nor Florida have approved the course because the Foundation did not apply for approval.

"Red,

No, The Appraisal Foundation is not going to apply for CE credit in every state for the Instructor Certification Courses.

thanks,

Red, and everyone else.

Virginia will accept such courses since it falls within the approved subjects list. Virginia does not preapprove any seminar. They only require an approved instructor(linstructors license) for prelicense courses. All prelicense courses must be approved, but not CE. So----even the Athena/Alamode seminars that Alamode does falls within the approved list of subjects. If anyone tells you they have an approved CE course in Virginia, they are lying to you. But, if the CE course you are offering or taking fits the list of approved subjects, you are OK in Virginia. I have always submitted and Virginia accepted all USPAP update seminars given by the AF.

Most states want both the seminar and instructor to be preapproved which makes it a pain. For example, if a noted appraiser with a national reputation gave a 2 hour presentation in Virginia on any appraisal related subject, it would be acceptable for CE, but not in most states.
