As an Appraiser you may gain insight to a portion of the lenders world regarding appraisals by reading the IAEG.

There is no excuse for being ignorant of these guidelines or at least the minimum requirements for appraisers, but you can gain some insights to the hurdles banks face and why in the world USPAP and IAEG were not melded within each other instead of potentially conflicted documents.

Ah but read it very carefully,
because,
while you will not find anything in the IAEG about
C&R,, even though you will see appraiser independence,
You will need to follow the footnotes to see that,
C&R and those issues from the Interim Final Rule were incorporated in TILA,
and by reference via footnoting, within the IAEG.

Thank you Terrel,

And the IAEG is a regulation or law that applies to residential lending appraisals, and hence, appraisers are REQUIRED to know and comply with the IAEG under USPAP competency.

But reading and researching doesn't seem to be a high priority here much anymore.

Thank you...it amazes me at the number of Appraisers that say they have never heard of the document. Sounds like a very good CE class.

Awe come on,

It's only been updated 6 years ago. When are appraisers supposed to find the time to read it in a re-fi boom?

Looks like you, Terrel and I are the only one's that have read it, and can lay claim to USPAP mandated competency.

Yeah, we get all the work!

Game won.

Prior to 12/02/2010 it had not been revised since 1994.
The IAEG is actually codified. It may be found in the Federal Register/Vol. 75, No. 237/Friday, December 10, 2010/Notices

I wonder if anyone would actually answer NO.

Maybe a flawed poll.......
