Getting bashed over the head by AMC's etc. causes one to "lash out" on occasion. This, in my opinion, is perfectly understandable. Tell me, when you "come in low" on an appraisal, are you ever spared the indignation of being questioned or even YELLED at? Didn't think so......

Be cool.......the HO will be LUCKY if you accept their assignment! :lol:

Had one of those 'boomerang order' attempts at me today as well. A couple counties away in a place I've never done an appraisal in, nor care to. Referral came from a local Realtor (you came highly recommended) I'll remember to thank him for that one. :roll:

Lady tells me 'I've sold my house in (timbuktoo) and need a really good appraiser who'll write it up right so I can get my money. I need the money really bad, you know. You sound like such a nice person. ' Read this to mean ' I have a POS in BFE and need a dummy to rubber stamp it.' What does any self respecting appraiser do after 3 pesky phone calls and nicely declining for 'lack of knowledge and data in the area'?? :idea: Refer her to my least favorite competition. Phone calls stopped.

Snowed Sunday 8". 2" more last night. 1-3 expected in two shots more this week....I mean this is Arkansas. That's more snow events that we usually get in a year. Spent the morning with realtors panicking because their precious closings are near. So? I told them what I told my clients. I am not risking breaking my neck to inspect a house where I cannot see the roof, nor the ground, nor the septic, nor the foundation, just to save their closing date. I will open back for business maybe Friday, otherwise it will have to wait.

My parents always told me to pray for the person I dislike. It has been, at times, difficult to do but of course I listened well to the 'rents.

So for that appraiser in my market that has earned my ire, I follow my parents strictures but also I refer lots of business to him particularly the type that Lee Ann mentions.

Most of those callers deserve the appraiser to whom I refer their assignments. He apparently thrives on what is sent over for I seldom get the boomarang back....

I bet you have a target in your market for this type of great generosity...

bean flat out now fer some time, will only deal wit the folks that ahve bean around fer sometime now, cause they can deal wit my kinda humor; had a newbie call about a job, they wanted this and wanted that and then they would send the order. Of course they wanted me ta quote a Fee, so's I aks - where is it ? what kinds a houseee is it ? still couldn't break the iceicles, so says I, let me fax over my info to ya - I satgers the pieces, so's that the las piece is my Fee Schedule and hos I gits paid, haven't heard back yet; great googliemoogly they jus makes me laugh into that goodnight :lol: :lol:

sorry to have to ask such a dumb question, but I'm a returning fee appraiser from being a staff appraiser for the past 10 years. I was a fee appraiser back in the late 80's. Lots has changed! What is an AVM? I had to ask.
