Disto error 255 = Receiver signal too low, measuring time too long, distance too long

All of a sudden I am getting 255 error code after 5 years. I am doing nothing different. My measuring time could be fast or slow makes no difference and distance can be short or long makes no difference as I am still getting error.

The solution is to use a "target plate". https://www.appraiserslaser.com/collections/accessories/products/large-target-plate-gzm26

Has this "target plate" solved anyone's problem?

Did you clean where beam comes out of Disto?

Put post it on wall (yellow), try it. Put white paper on wall, try it. I find a white target works best in all conditions, I use a square foot of target or thereabouts.

I will trying cleaning it. Do you use isopropyl alcohol?

Sunlight - Cleaning

Oh yes, I forgot about good old error code 255 - every time I got one of those it was operator error, exceeding the design capabilities of the D5 device.

This solved my Disto problem I had the same error early on it never went away
