Are any licensed appraiser taking action against FHA for discrimination and or has anyone who is licensed had any luck with the FHA and getting on or back on the roster in my case. I was on the roster and didnt have the money to renew and now I think its too late?

Clue me in on the "discrimination" part.

What do mean by discrimination?

Licensed appraisers are being told that we as a class of professionals are not as good as certified, and that we are more likely to be offenders than certified are. Regardless of how much experience we have. No matter that certified appraisers and licensed are only separated by a few class hours. We all take the same classed. The recovery act states only certified will be able to perform government appraisals. Anyone interested in class action???

Last I heard they still have yet to define the word "certified."

I assume that you mean that you didn't have the money to renew your license?? Not to kick a solder when they're down, but I saw this coming more than a year ago, and as a trainee, begged borrowed (stole) to be able to take the classes needed and sat for the CR exam after the first of the year.

With all the changes occurring in our profession, if you can't afford to keep your license current, maybe the FHA roster shouldn't be your focus right now.

Good Luck.

Discrimination

I suggest you take a course from the EEOC immediately before you peee away some hard earned money thinking that you are a victim of discrimination. The protected classes are pretty well defined, and the undereducated and/or under licensed have yet to make the team. The education might even overlap into your appraisal business and you can get CE credits.:Eyecrazy:

You have to understand i have more experience then most certified. I have more and better education, and i believe that alot of licensed are just as qualified or more than certified. I also believe that you can not judge a class or group of persons without individual merit. When i tested i actually tested for certified, as i had the hours, only to have the state cut one class and move me to licensed. The certified and license tests are the same. The studies are the same. Certified and Licenced are only spelled differently. How many certified have been repremanded vs licensed? I was told by FHA that licensed has been around longer??

Can an employer "discriminate" against a High School Grad versus a GED holder without repercussion? an Associate's Degree versus a BS? An automobile drivers license versus a transfer truck driver? Again, the "protected class" is small. Find another windmill Don.

I never was a Licensed Appraiser, and I've only been Certified a short while, but I do need to tell you, there's no such word as ALOT, and I (the personal pronoun) gets capitalized, and LICENSED & REPRIMANDED are the spellings you're looking for.

Education and time on the job aren't everything.

FWIW, the Licensed and Certified tests are not the same, nor are the education requirements. The CR requires more hours and requires the first "General" (aka Income) course. Luckily, the differences in the levels of Licensure/Cerification are not largely questioned in the tests, or you would again be SOL.
