Parkinson's Disease Linked to Living Near Golf Courses—New Study

Researchers found that those living within a mile of golf courses have 126 percent higher risk of developing Parkinson's disease than those who live more than six miles away, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

Areas that shared drinking water supplies with water used near golf courses were the most greatly impacted, the study shows. Researchers believe this shows that the pesticides used on golf courses could contribute to the amount of Parkinson's cases.

"The odds of PD were relatively constant within close proximity to a golf course and decreased linearly as distance increased; individuals living farther from a golf course had reduced odds of PD, decreasing relative to the distance from the nearest golf course," the study explained.

What do they mean by sharing water supplies. The only way I can see it being a possible issue is if you are on a well near a golf course. Otherwise how could a golf course contaminate a non well water supply and be different by distance

It's not that easy to get published in JAMA. Trump tried with his bleach solution for Covid.

apparently it is 1 study on 450 people in 1 county in Minnesota. old people likely live nearer golf courses and if pesticides are the issue shouldn't those who live near farms see similar results. the climate angle certainly helped getting this study published

No cross collinearity going on there... Parkinson's affects primarily older people = true. Older people tend to have the financial wherewithal to live near golf courses = true. Golf courses cause Parkinson's = not true. Non-sequitur.

You should see if your primary care physician can prescribe you a DJT pill. That way you could give him one good swallow and be done for the day.

It dawn on me. I live within 6 miles from a golf course.
