I applied like 15 - 20 years ago. Did good on the test, and had an interview. Never got called back. I suspect they did not like my answer to a question along the lines of what do you do if the homeowner doesn't want to let you in? Forget what I said, but it was far from, I whip out my assessors pistol, and say, Look man! I'm going in!

Some good news, my background check cleared and I received an offer letter (of sorts) to start next month.

Congratulations Tim! I just got the news too! Starting September 8th. Looks like we'll be in the same training class. Guess I'll see you then.
