Actually, the beauty of ITBS is it's cross referenced data. If I have the serial number and the Certification labels are missing, they can find it, or vice versa.
The lender is requiring you to get this? If so, I'd charge them the additional amount that ITBS is going to charge you for the letter. Personal preference, but I'd rather spend the $50 (I think that's the cost for inquiries.) than belly crawl under a 1985 manufactured unit with my flash light.
My understanding is they have the data if it's June 1976 or newer in most cases.
