Yeah and if the taxes they actually collected did anything about the above then the cost might be worth it. As it is, it is used to pay for the bloated union wages and pension obligations of government sewer and water department workers.
Exactly, raising taxes does not fix the problem. It is your standard shell game, when raising taxes it is always for the children, schools, fire/police service, the bay, yada, yada, yada. The sad truth is the Maryland politicans steal the money from the bay funds and/or highway funds to waste elsewhere. Maryland has a balanced budget amendment, so the politicans raid these other funds to balance their books. The are raising the gasoline tax too, because of all the stolen monies taken out of the highway fund and spent elsewhere. The current governor has pushed through 37 different tax increases, and hopes to run for President in 2016, just what we need another big spender.
