Mass Layoffs

A lot of the layoffs are coming in the redundant jobs, those that can be replaced by an AI robot voice over the phone; the "Account Executives", the "Customer Service" reps (that don't provide service), the low level managers that weren't needed in the first place, etc. Nobody's getting rid of the people that do actual, physical work. Trimming the fat in the expectation of a slowdown and to increase the profits for the shareholders.

What's happening?

Axios:
By the numbers: The economy added 199,000 jobs in November, slightly more than forecast.

  • 83% of the jobs created — 166,000 jobs — were in health care, government, and leisure.
  • Another 28,000 workers came from the manufacturing sector — mostly autoworkers coming back from strikes.
  • That leaves just 5,000 new jobs from other sectors.jobs.jpg
Jobs are in government because 'they say so.' Spending trillion on government jobs with money were putting on the charge card. Its the Dem way of vote buying.

Well, the media is trying to point out the economy is great and we should acknowledge that no matter what your checking account says.

Nobel laureate Paul Krugman says this isn't a 'Goldilocks' economy – it's even better, thanks to strong growth and cooling inflation

  • Paul Krugman believes the outlook for the US economy is better than a "Goldilocks" scenario.
  • "We have an economy that is both satisfyingly hot and refreshingly cold," he said Thursday.
  • Krugman's comments came after Bureau of Economic Analysis data showed that the US's GDP rose by a better-than-expected 3.3% over the final quarter of 2024.
The US economy isn't just headed for a so-called "Goldilocks" scenario – things are looking even better than that, according to Paul Krugman.

This is the same guy who predicted email would be a passing fad, and admitted globalization has hurt workers.

Krugman is a Keynesian cheerleader mystifyingly proud of his miserable record at prediction.
