The term master bedroom has nothing to do with slavery and is a term originating from the early 20th century. It refers to the master of the household, ill-informed people should do some research before getting all bu** hurt.

I can't imagine anyone not understanding where the term comes from and that it has nothing directly to do with the antebellum south. But is it such an important term needed by a client with average intelligence to understand the appraisal that we will throw a segment of the society under the bus?

Who is master of the household? The man, the woman, the most spoiled of the kids?

Even if you don't see it or understand it (or worse, agree with it) there is a reason for PC.

I'm not "Bu** Hurt" I just made a minor change at no cost to me.

Seems to me that your post is the most indicative of being traumatized by a minor change. Or, as you put it, "bu** hurt." I fully understand "Master" is used in substitution of "Primary." But I see what could be implied, and as a female who has solely owned many properties, I have simply ignored my 75-year old appraiser-father's template that used "master" and instead call it a *gasp* bedroom.

*I HATE the phrase you used. Rape is NOT something to brush off or make a flippant joke about how sensitive people can be. I know I'm ironically fitting your example of perfectly right now. And I'm good with that. Because rape jokes are so very 1990's

ugh...just made my point for me. BTW, my comment was not directed at you, it was directed at the uninformed masses. The fact that this terminology issue is coming up now and has been related to the race issues within our country is where my frustration lies.

I don't care what appraisers choose to call the "owner's suite." But it's always the same caste of characters that seem to moan and complain about being forced in to PC-ery.
