McKissock Appraisal School

Have taken several classes from McKissock.
Took a great manufactured home class several years ago from Dick. Then USPAP and expert witness classes from Lee Hess a year or so ago.

Am going down this weekend to take Appraiser Liability and Real Estate Damages classes from Lee again. I'm looking forward to these because Dick & Lee wrote the class.

After the classes, I have always found both of them very accessible. Had a questions on USPAP that came up a couple of weeks after the class -- Lee emailed me back within a day. And I've just had a brief but very informative enchange with Dick about standard 3 appraisal reviews and clearly identifying the scope of work involved.

All of my other classes and CE have been from AI. For CE, I'm sticking with McKissock. Can take twice the classes for the same money and the instructors are as good or better.

Don Clark,

I don't know how I missed your Tax Consulting class, but these are the types of classes I am interested in. Something that can help the appraiser in the field improve his business. Some courses with interesting topics are occasionally offered, but the sad fact is that the instructors don't dig into what they are supposed to be teaching about. I honestly think many instructors and companies are in it just to make a quick buck by filling a time requirement, aware that appraisers are required to take these CE courses every year.

I took a class on appraising historic homes (not McKissock) a few years ago and was totally disappointed. I chose the class because I have always had difficulty finding the right comps for these types of properties, and wanted to make sure I was covering all the bases when I was appraising them. I wanted to find out what the supposed "expert" did in his appraisals. Instead, I came away with very little useful information from that course. What a waste of time and money!

Doug....me too!
Only I took the historic homes course in Maryland, I believe Anapolis, or maybe Baltimore. The instructor was absolutely horrible and just related his experience.....droned on and on. What a waste of money and time!

I haven't taken any classes from McKissock. My associate who has been appraising almost 20 years now has taken a few and considers the ones she took some of the best classes she has ever had and prefers to take them when they are in the area.

"Ditto" all the good comments on McKissock. Have taken classess from them for years and found them to be good.

I have enjoyed and learned in every class I've taken from McKissock. I really want to take their fraud class and have heard that it's very good.
