It appears to provide only approximate measurements (it has limitations based on the way it works). But, I would use it as an adjunct to my tape measure and Hilti Laster. Would I pay $500 for it? I would probably want to get a better idea of its features and accuracy, - and then only if I had some money to throw away.

There are some useful YouTube videos:

Looks cool. The only problem is, as I said, the way it works. It relies on a single spot check with the laser on a flat plane. That itself is questionable. The angle of the flat surface to the viewer is not known and probably assumed to be 90 degrees. So, if you are looking at the side of a house from an angle - that would throw off the length x width x height measurements. I would imagine that after going around a house taking measurements and then feeding them into a floorplan app like Home Designer Pro, you could have major discrepancies. Also drawing rather thick lines over windows and the like from a distance is subject to limited accuracy, - a tape measure would be more accurate. But, for windows, we don't need to be that accurate. The problem is using it to measure the dimensions of the house.

Nonetheless, with the photos, it could be a very good back-up to standard ANSI measurement methods.
