I asked for a MLS application from Greater Tulsa Area Realtors. (They don't earn a patent mark from me)

I will have to have this access, so I guess I'm stuck, but tell me what you think.

"I consent and authorize the Association, through its membership committee or otherwise, to invite and receive information and comment about me from any member or person, and agree that any information or comment furnished to the Association in response to any such invitation shall be conclusively deemed to be privileged and not form the basis of any action by me for slander, libel, or defamatio of character"

This taken verbatim off of the application for membership.

What I get from this is-I gree to let people say any **** thing that want about me-be it true or not-without recourse.

Some kind of admirable folks.

I called these people sometime last week for the application. They told me I had to have my application in by the 20th. I get the application this morning, the 31st. I got have it in by the 3rd with fees for consideration or wait for the next 6 months meeting.

You have to wait 6 months???? Unbelievable! I wouldn't worry too much about the verbage in the application, but pay now and wait 6 months??? No way!

Yvonne ~

I would hurry up.

And, by the way, don't list anybody who dislikes you or finds fault with you: like old boyfriends and ex-lovers or anybody that you've beaten out of money.

The most common people to list are: your divorce lawyer (the one who represented your side)(and you've paid up), your religious confessor (if any), and present boyfriend (using his previous address).

Smile.

Sounds to me like you are making an application to become a Realtor and not just subscribe to the MLS. The MLS is a service provided to Realtors. If that is the case, welcome.

Remember that the National Association of Realtors is a private professional organization and membership can be restricted. If you join, you will have to conduct yourself IAW with the Code of Ethics.

And if you join, consider giving some time back to the organization. Perhaps on the MLS side where we appraisers are known for working to get accurate information posted on the system

You would be correct Richard. The way the application reads and to the best of my understanding, I must join as a member, as if I were a realtor, to buy into MLS access.

I can't just pay the MLS access fees. I will be a dues paying member to the toon of $1200.

I apologize for the post and removed it. When I read the 3 day timeline I was upset. I have to have this access. I called the office and was first told by some phone taker, my info was all wrong, (more upset), I said let me speak to so and so who sent the info. So and so said "no, that time line is incorrect." I replied, well you sent it, I have here in front of me, what am I to think? I got it ironned out. Overnighted my packet, and settled the issue. And again I apologize.
