Mobile Floor Plan App Poll

I wanted to see how many appraisers use mobile floor-plan apps during property inspections and, for those who have tried them, whether they find the apps save time or take longer than sketching manually.

If you have used one, please state which app. If you selected “Sometimes,” please explain what types of houses you choose to use it on.

Personally, I have used CubiCasa about a dozen times. More often than not, I find that it takes me longer, especially when a house is cluttered or untidy, or when it is full of people who—no matter how many times you kindly ask them to move out of the way—never fully do.

I use Total's mobile app and Disto, I do not use scan to sketch. I've use it 100% of the time since around 2019.

Total mobile on every inspection since the early 2000s (PocketTotal). Whatever you use, get proficient with it soon. Mobile inspection device will be much more beneficial with 3.6

Disto measurement input to a Windows tablet running a full version of Apex. Sometimes via Bluetooth for McMansions, most of the time simply keyed in.

Like you, I use CubiCasa on occasion. Primarily for large custom homes especially on a hillside where the lower level and parts of the upper levels may not be accessible. I tried it on a property I had previously measured. I was 85 sq ft larger on 5,300 sf. I find it's alsway quicker. It took under 30 min. on this abomination;

Did you input that into the report? All that in under 30 minutes is quite amazing actually. Even with the bowed walls and uneven lines. Do you shoot some areas with a disto to verify and pretty up the sketch afterwards?
