Model name based on model number?

Ken - the EXACT same thought has crossed my mind. I have reached out and explained my situation with three separate brokers here in Louisiana and none of them know where to turn (two in NO, one in Baton Rouge). One of them has assisted me in searching, but we're both clueless as to where to get the information from. I've contacted my realtor and title agency, too - they're at a loss.

I simply cannot believe that with the number of manufactured and mobile homes in the area that nobody has had this type of challenge before.

I would suggest going direct to the insurance provider.

Foremost comes to mind (back when I sold P&C insurance).

They cover manufactured homes and should be available in LA (they are a Farmers company).

Perhaps, just an opinion, that these agents you are calling do not want to write your business. Minimum premium, lots of work.....nothing against the law about that...just lazy.....

Depending on how friendly the neighbors are, find one that has a house that looks like yours, knock on the door, tell them you are buying a house down the street, and ask them if they have a similar model, if they had similar issues, and, if so, who they used for their insurance?

Hi Mr. Rex!

I know the model # - but NADA guides doesn't report by Model Number. I need the Model Name equivalent. Typically it is located on the data plate, except in this instance. Any other ideas?

There are tons of data plates with model numbers not names, I'd dare bet the majority are numbers.

I had the same thought.

I think that the insurance company being lazy is the best guess here. Insurance of any sort is high down here - auto, life, health, etc... but it is what it is. It is my understanding that most insurance companies pulled out of MH after the recent hurricanes. Most residents of mobile homes have coverage because the were grandfathered in. Finding insurance NOW is the problem.

Two of the brokers that I worked with said they're not 100% sure why other insurance companies denied me, but they think it is because they cannot find a value of the home on NADA guides due to the fact that there is no model NAME. Louisiana Citiziens Insurance initially covered us, but because the underwriters requested the Make and Model NAME that we are unable to find, they have canceled our policy.

Very frustrating.

I have thrown all my old NADA manufactured books as I no longer use NADA, but if I recall correctly they did have model numbers as well as names. Someone else here that still uses NADA could confirm. You might want to call or visit the local tax office, they typically have a library of old NADA books that may be helpful.

Schult has about 15 pages of model names but no models referenced by number. Entering 1046 in the model name yields Invalid Model .

There are 3 Legacy types that work for a Schult located in LA. The Legacy, the Legacy (T), and the Legacy Plus. You can rule out the (T) model unless you have more than two sections and one of the is smaller. The T stands for tag along which is a smaller sectin - like a room addition.

Can't you just "guess?" It shouldn't make much difference on such an old MH.
