Comp Checks can be done, ethically and in compliance with USPAP ... I personally think you can do a Restricted Report and be in compliance ... the question is why would you want to?
All of that work for essentially no pay? Doesnt everyone have better things to do with their time than give away work?
I have fired myself in the middle of a complete assignment for various reasons and I havent been paid. In those instances I didnt ask to be paid but this happens maybe twice a year and is a business decision. Comp checks are not a product offering that my office promotes.
Those of you who do comp checks on a regular basis ... I hope you really like your clients. Its the only reason I can see to do them as a part of your product offering.
