Greg now stores most of them in a shed.

When the hell are you going to come over and do something about them?
 
As I thin them, I will take them out to the dumpster that is for recycling. Did you know you can recycle old appraisals?
Considering the fact that we have city/county inmates working at the recycle center for $1.50/hr or a per hour "community" service requirement, I think I'll stick to shredding.

$1.50 per hour? since it pays better than a BPO are you sure they are not brokers?
 
Around here there are shredding services that will come to you with a truck and shred them on site. Resonable rates too.

This is what I do.
And, they'll give you a certification that shows the documents have been destroyed and they'll take any liability for any information that gets leaked-out.

If you have a Staples, haul the boxes over to them and they will shred them for you for a pretty reasonable rate.
We keep ours for 5 years and the ones that have been litigated for 7 years. The one exception is the narrative commercial reports. I have kept them since Day 1.
