My measuring tape degrading

I grabbed one of my tape measure and in horror when I was stretching and measuring, the tape was hard to pull and the surface of the tape was coming out making my fingers powdery white. Ugh.
Never happened before. Cheap old home depot tape.

Is it retractable tape like one that will stretch out about 8 feet and barely bend. Is it metal or vinyl? I have never had a tape rub off white stuff. You weren't snorting anything were you?

I will test you with 100 ft fiberglas tape, 25 ft steel tape that will reach about 8 ft with little bend, little lazer on inside on upstairs. I'll challenge you.

I'll warn you. I am pretty good on ANSI.

There is no way I would work without laser inside on upstairs. I can't even imagine using laser outside in bright sunlight.

That is where I would get you on outside measurements.

I think Fernando makes stuff up sometimes. I don't really see how a surface on his measuring device could suddenly release some kind of white substance.

I joked like were you snorting cocaine? It don't make sense to me how the tape would suddenly have white substance on his hands.
