NCAR raises real estate fees and adds special assessment!

They need 10 mil to explain the difference between ethics and the ethnic section of the hair car aisle to their rank and file members, I think they have to take hair care every so many years now that they realized there was a problem.

So, it wasn't just me that got upset about this.

Got an email today from an angry real estate agent who's forming a coalition to fight it (message below):

Dear Fellow Agents,

Feeling fleeced by the NCAR?? Me too! Surprised to learn that your MANDATORY dues were being used to support political campaigns?? Me too!

I don’t disagree with the positions that NCAR has taken on the issues. But our trade organization should be spending its time and YOUR money protecting and promoting the interests of Realtors. The job of NCAR is to make my everyday life as a Realtor easier. Turns out our trade association is being used as a political action committee. I want to stop that, and I’m asking you to join me in this fight.

Like you, I’ve been busy making a living in tough market. But when I got a bill for an “assessment” for political action, I got upset. I thought RPAC, funded by voluntary contributions, was the organization that fought political campaigns. I’m angry that my trade organization is threatening to take away my access to the MLS unless I pay this mandatory assessment. Is doesn’t matter whether or not you support NCAR on the issues. It is wrong to require members to pay for these activities. It doesn’t matte that the fee is “only” $50. It is wrong to threaten any Realtor with loss of MLS privileges if they don’t pay the political tax.

We are organizing to take back the NCAR. I am emailing Realtors from the mountains to the coast. Please forward this email to your colleagues, because some of ours may be blocked by spam filters. We need you to do these things:
  • Write our call these NCAR leaders and tell them you will not pay! Contact your local Board members with the same message.
Wendell Bullard (President) bullardw@aol.com
Tim Kent (Exec VP-CEO) TKent@ncrealtors.org
Sandra O'Conner (President-Elect) sandra.oconnor@atcmail.com
Kelly Cobb - kelly@relo-expert.com
Parker Creech - parker@parkercreech.com
Mary Edna Williams - maryednaw@remax.net
  • Tell your leaders that you will not vote for board members that support this kind of extortion.
  • Visit our website http://ncarnow.info and post your comments.
  • Contact me directly and let me know that you want to help. We need your email address so that we can contact you directly for future activities.
Join me today. Tell the NCAR that this special political assessment is a VERY BAD IDEA!!

Not that I advocate increases in taxes. But, tax cuts haven't produced a robust economy either.
Economic Hint: Tax cuts haven't created our massive deficits, over-spending has. Countless billions of dollars in annual pork spending could be cut from the national budget each year and your average working taxpayer would never notice a difference. What does this tell you? Hopefully, you would surmise that most likely that spending was never necessary.

Doug,

The voters believe the lies that only the rich will be taxed. Fact is their idea of rich is anyone that has enough money to pay for taxes. Time and time again it has been proven that raising taxes is counter productive. The problem I often see is when things are booming they set the budget on that income, they shouldn't do that especially since it isn't their money.

Maybe if enough members complain they'll drop it. I recall a few years ago a large number of members screamed about the forced PAC contribution. They now give you an option of whether or not to contribute. I get sick of their heavy handed tactics. Hopefully the spammers will spider this thread and send some get rich quick offers to those fine people listed. :)

The top 10% earners pay 96% of Federal tax..Sounds fair eh Liberals...

Boortz "Fair tax" book explained exactly that. When the income tax was first pushed through Congress, it passed because only the Wealthy were going to have to pay it. Somehow over the years, the requirement got revised so that it's not just the Wealthy who are paying now. With Federal, State, and local taxes, we're approaching a 50% taxation rate. If we ever cross that threshold, the damage may be irreparable. Imagine working 6 months a year just to pay your tax obligations. A sickening thought but not impossible if we keep sending big spenders to Washington. I can only hope the people reach a point very soon and just say "enough".

Doug,

Not long ago I read where the taxation was in excess of 60% when you consider all taxes including sales taxes.

We are very close to the tipping point where taxation will cause a spiral down in the economy too a depression like bottom. So , let's raise taxes on those nasty rich folks to pay for my health care..

In Connecticut they raised eveything it cost an extra $100.00 to renew our license this year in April.
