Has anyone taken the NEBB equipment and machinery class? Is it legitimate and can you make money at it? I did a search and found this was discussed a few time before but not many people responded. If anyone has any information good or bad it would be greatly appreciated.

An appraiser that rented office space from me signed up several months ago and invested about $5,000 in the program for material and attending a class in Texas. He got one, $1,000 job shortly after he signed up. He was suppose to do some extensive mailing that he did not do because he ran out of money. He recently closed his appraisal business although he did have a chance at a $5,000 job but he couldn't accept it because he had to have some surgery. My friend was led to believe that money could be made with NEBB but like any other business it would take some effort and a few thousand bucks.

I used to do M&E work. It can be quite lucrative. The problem is comparables, which means you have to subscribe to auction company results, etc. If they have current data, and you can get it without all their BS, then it might be worth it. However, there is no need to pay someone to learn about M&E work, as the key is recognizing what you are looking at, the differences in types of value, and so forth. The report can be as simple as an Excel spreadsheet.
