Being a quick reader, my attention for this term was originally directed towards fancy electrical upgrades.

Thought it was a thread on fiber optic lighting at first.

Yep, don't use terms nobody will understand.

It's an oversized two story, with custom ornamentation inside and out, built in a neighborhood where average home sizes are 5k sq ft or more.

That would cover it adequately.

A Mc Mansion is right out of the box, poor worksmanship built as many as fast as they can. A custom oversized home has higher quality craftsmanship. Save the term mcmansion for area of problematic building methods, inadequate soil reports, flooding, steep value loss due to environmental or building conditions, not economic ones.
