I want to thank you guys, I have already started working with them and it has been a fun and working with complex properties which makes it even more fun in the profession. Some easy, others are wonky because of figuring some cost to cure and areas folks are buying in and current use. But overall, this what I asked for and I am grateful and humbly blessed.

Well, it is certainly great news to hear from you and your report. I am sure you efforts helping your neighbors are appreciated. Keep us posted on the progress in the recovery phase.

Florida is going to be pounded. Hopefully people will be spared the flooding.

Bluebook provides cost and repair information for the insurance industry. They have a site called RepairBase that I use. It is specifically for repair/renovation jobs as opposed to reproduction costs.

I've used it for a number or years. Usually right-on with a flipper's contractor estimates that I've reviewed.
It isn't a free service, but you can purchase them individually or 5-10 at a time. I think it costs about $12 a report. Provides documented/citable estimates for repairs and renovation work.

Good to hear from you Workbox. So many people in Houston did not have flood insurance and will have to walk away from their homes. Seeing how well the banks handle foreclosures, many of these homes will be vacant for a decade. Stay safe and watch out for looter/squatters.

Actually, with some education about the programs that are available, many can recover - they just need to know how to do it. When we had our big flood in 2010 we lost thousands of homes that were not in flood zones (and the owners did not have flood insurance). Through FEMA and through filing amended tax returns for the property casualty loss, many were able to fix their homes and restore their lives.
