New Exam for Certification

I am sooooo sorry! That is awful. You would think the test site would try to somehow rectify that in your behalf.

I wish, but not PSI! They couldn't have been less caring and willing to work something out for us. I offered to drive an hour away where the test was being given all day, and they said "no". They had no answers or suggestions, and everything I suggested (including a refund) was met with "no"... like one of those Capital One commercials, except I was the one being laughed at. It was the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

If my luck was any good, I wouldn't be in the appraisal business in the first place. I'm trying to get over it and focus on the task at hand, which is passing the new exam soon.

I think you should file a formal complaint with your state board. Are you in contact with any of the others also "burned".
There are other testing companies out there, that I am sure would love to have the State's biz....

Appraiser Exam Update:

Please be aware that effective January 1, 2008 all Appraiser exams were updated. PSI will begin administering these new exams on 1/22/08. We advise you to carefully review the new content outlines to ensure you are prepared for the new exam. All exams are now 150 items. The licensed appraiser and certified residential appraiser exams are now 6 hour long while the certified general appraiser is an 8 hour exam. Also note that exam results will not be available for at least 90 days from your test date . Please refer to your State Appraiser Licensing Authority or go to www.psiexams.com for more information.

Anyone taking the new Exam is in for a rude awakening, It's TOUGH. basically a lot of math. No more dictionary questions. lots of income capitalization, age-life methods, IRV, PVEON, sequence of adjustments and all those other formulas. Oh and here in Florida they wont tell you in you passed or Failed right after the test like they used to- now they will mail it to you in 6-8 weeks!. GOOD Luck to all of us taking this test. I am waithinf for my results as we speak.

My understanding is that the long wait for test results is because the test is new and they need time to see how it goes. They are going to wait to send scores until they see the results. Maybe they are grading on a curve:shrug:

It might be a good idea to wait a few months to take the test.
