just got it from home depot yet its not even available from their site its so new. best wheel ive ever owned. 1- its handle breaks down into thirds so it will always work in extended mode 100% and 2- the box with the numbers in it are stored on top of the wheel instead of beside it making the single wheel highly effective in high grass. BEST WHEEL EVER!

I rarely need to use a wheel but for poultry barns, many are over 500' long therefore the disto cannot measure them end to end, and if occupied oftent there would be too many obstructions to accurately measure anyway. They are handy. Mine folds into 2 parts. I've had it for nigh 20 years.

Wheel

Thanks, I've ALWAYS used a wheel. Looking for a new one, thanks for the tip!!

I wil have to investigate that. Luv my wheel. Sold my laser on this site. Laser to much of a hassle. Do you have a model number????

this thread affirms for me why it takes appraisers so long to do assignments

ha! this does not describe me at all but i have to ask. how do you measure a 50-80 foot span in bright sunlight with a laser? and dont you have to stand at a right angle? push 3 or 4 buttons? than have to walk that same span anyway on your way around the house or can you draw exterior dimensions from the front only? a laser soungs good in theory and ive had 3 but this new wheel is perfect.

IMO, Wheels are the least accurate way of measuring and MOST who use them never realize how off they can be on their measurements until it's to late. I can understand it on an interior for a condo or even the interior of a second floor but on the exterior of a brick building over mortar joints one can be off by a significant amount.

A tape is still the most accurate. Laser devices are also very accurate. As to time savings there really is no significant time savings between the 3. I still walk around the house even if its a box shape.

On really long stretchs, I hit something half way, then add the two. I also hit gutters and sophits.

Where the laser reallly shines is inside. Mine does square footage calculations. I can measure finished areas of the basement in seconds, from on spot. Also in measuring non standard second floors.
