Hello, my name is Chris and I'm a new member to this group of Florida appraisers. Thanks Pam. I remember Pam from when I used participate in the AI forum a few years ago. I've been appraising in Florida for almost 10 years. I came to Florida shortly after Hurricane Andrew to help my family recover. I started my appraisal career in 1988 in Annapolis Maryland. Up until 3 years ago I was working in south east Florida, Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties with an occaisional trip to Martin and St. Lucie. In 2000 my husband's job got transferred to the Space Coast, so now I'm strictly in Brevard county; south central Brevard only (do not go north of the Space Center).

I've been a member of the Appraisal Institute since 1995 and have recently been invited to participate in the Governor's Quality/Fraud Council.

I look forward to getting to know the other appraisers here, to learn and hopefully contribute some of my own knowledge so we can all stay positive in our career choice.

Chris,

Welcome to the Forum!

We look forward to your contributions. Sounds like your experience will be a valuable resource. Hope you don't mind sharing with some of us relatively new folks! (Going on five years for me.)

I lived near Annapolis for several years when I was in the Air Force. We sure enjoyed that area. Blue crabs, oysters and striped bass!

Let us know if you think we may able to help out in your Quality/Fraud Council duties.

Again, Welcome!

Hi Chris, Welcome!

I live in the Tampa area. We moved up here 3 years ago from the Naples area where I appraised for 15 years. I really like Melbourne, we almost moved there instead of Tampa, but my husbands company settled here.
I'm sure with your experience you will add a lot to the forum!

I look forward to talking with you.

Monica

Hey Chris,

I work in Melbourne for a year with Tom Richards - he was on Eau Gallie across from Intracoastal Joe's. I really loved Melbourne, but I couldn't make enough $. I lived in Boca Raton for 35 years (grew up there) and appraised there for 13 years. Did a lot of work in Martin/St. Lucie counties as well as Palm Beach and Broward. I really love Merrit Island and do miss central Fla a lot.

Welcome aboard.

Eric

Hi Chris,
I'm in Tampa, too. We moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco.
Welcome to the group.

Thank you for the wonderful welcome :D I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Let me chime in too.....welcome! I'm in beautiful downtown Brooksville - on the nature coast of Florida (west coast)!

We've all gotten to know each other pretty well over the last few years. I used to try to go to the FREAB meetings in Orlando, but I also was appointed by the Governor to be on the Governing Board for the Southwest Florida Watermanagement District and they also meet on the same Tuesdays each month! Go figure! Anyway, look forward to getting to know you. We take the hike across Florida once or twice a year to look at your ocean for a change of pace.

Welcome on Chris

I am South West Miami-Dade up from the islands Mon. But the family has long time Florida roots. How is the transition from the city to a small town? Your missing out on all the new multimillion condos going up, or is that what your glad to be away from?

It's not so small, really. Only a little over an hour to the "big city" of Orlando. We have multi-million dollar homes here, too. In fact there was one just listed for over 5 Million that is 8,000 square feet. The largest home I've seen here is 14,000 square feet. What I don't miss is the traffic. You can keep the Palmetto Expressway and I-95 all to yourself :P Actually, in distance its kinda like the Keys, we are 75 miles north to south. There is a large difference in markets north of the Space Center vs south of the Space Center. That's why I stay in a very limited work area.
