I'm WAY behind a lot of you computer wizzes. Today I bought, what I thought was a "laptop"....The saleslady quickly corrected me "It's a notebook"....

With my HP Windows 2000 Professional, and an 11 year old DOS machine that I won't get rid of in my office, I had planned to buy another desk PC as a backup. But while in Sam's Club taking back a $15 pair of slacks, I spotted the notebooks. Price was a big factor, and I noticed a Compaq Presario 2178 cl, Windows XP for $997; I guess a lower end HP product, Right? I've not tied in to the cable modem yet but have loaded the appraisal software. I have peace of mind already, knowing I'll have a backup. So far, the learning curve hasn't pushed my nerves to the brink. In fact, it's rather simple to operate. Haven't started an appraisal yet on it, but we'll see. Interesting for me, at this stage of the game. Any suggestions or comments, other than "Take it Back"... :o

My only thought would have been if you have the extra money to spare possibly a tablet PC. I was in today picking up some new business cards and file cabinet at a store and walked to the circuit city. They had the tablet pc's on display and I drolllllllleleleleed. If it was not for my uncertanty of personal life I probably would have pulled out the credit card and bought one. BUT then again I am somewhat of a new gadget person and a compulsive shopper. Went into home depot and had to get pulled away kicking and screaming from the tool isle.
