Niche Market Fun

Our local niche markets that are interesting (and sometimes fun) to do are Fire Island, a 31 mile barrier island of the south shore of Long Island that is mostly part of the Fire Island National Seashore. Very limited winter ferry service (ask Tony V.) No non permittted vehicles, in some communities the streets are boardwalks.

Fishers Island, a small island that is actually off the coast of eastern Connecticut but belongs to the the Town of Southhold, NY (drive / ferry to New London, CT and then limited ferry to Fishers Island).

The island town of Shelter Island, ferry only access, where my reoccurring property is located. A 4,000 sq. ft. modern with a couple of hundred feet of bulkhead on the bay. Infinity pool, tennnis court, boat slips. It's my home away from home :)

I do historic stuff, mainly residential Edsel Ford, Frank Lloyd Wright, etc. This year I got to do an original Frank Lloyd Wright home that was still owned by the original owner. She told me the story about her and FLW argued about things...it was really a great experience. Sad note on the story, her estate called me and asked if I would change the appraisal from a Historic Preservation Easement to an estate appraisal. She passed away shortly after I observed the property.

But I like the historic stuff, got a haunted restaurant in Traverse City right now.
